What is a Saturn Return?
Saturn takes roughly 29.5 years to orbit the Sun. That means several times in a lifetime, Saturn returns to exactly the position it held at your birth. In astrology these moments are read as turning points where "childhood ends and responsibility begins".
Why it gets talked about so much
In traditional astrology Saturn is the planet of structure, limits, responsibility and time. The first Saturn return, around age 29, is frequently associated with one thing: the structures built during youth — career, relationship, way of living — being put to the test. Are they still right, or do they no longer reflect who you actually are?
This is not a "period of bad luck". The traditional reading sees it as a time of accounting and maturing. It can be hard, because Saturn is not easy and asks for what is real.
